Post holders will be responsible for assembling and delivering food and provisions across Milton Keynes University Hospital sites in accordance with specified standards.

Post holders will be required to provide a wide range of domestic service-related tasks within Milton Keynes University Hospital sites.

You will be part of a team that provide meals and service to the patients/staff members and visitors in the hospital.

This role will involve directinteraction with the Medical staff in the restaurant areas during meal times with main duties to include:

Serving of breakfast, lunch and supper in the restaurant

  • Packing all cutlery, crockery and service equipment for the service.
  • Working in the restaurant wash up area cleaning all cooking utensils and all kitchen equipment.
  • Aiding the Head Chef in daily and weekly cleaning tasks.
  • Serving all meals in a timely and hygienic manner when needed.
  • Record temperatures and wastage of all food served at each service time.
  • Support dietary /allergens choices from our customers if required to serve on the food counters.
  • Wash up dirty crockery and cutlery in central washup area
  • Liaise with team to complete all tasks within the restaurant.
  • Good command of the English language with a passion for customer care and be able to liaise closely with all staff
  • Awareness of food & hygiene standards
  • Must have a 'Can do' attitude
  • Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and able to pull and push a full food trolley and stock items around the kitchen.
  • Previous Catering knowledge is preferred but full training will be given.
  • Be aware that this is a hospital environment and at times you will come in to contact with patients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress.

  • General Wash up duties for Breakfast, Lunch and Supper service.
  • Ensure the crockery and cutlery are clean and ready for service
  • Responsible for the hygiene for the kitchen, wash up and servery areas, large equipment is deep cleaned on a rota system.
  • Liaise with supervisors to ensure that all equipment is clean and ready for service.
  • Ensure chemicals are stored and COSHH is adhered to in line with HACCP and food safety legislation.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and all equipment according to hygiene regulations.
  • Work from heights, ensure the walls, extractions and ceiling are deep cleaned routinely.
  • Operating dishwasher machinery. Maintain dishwasher and make sure it is clean after every use.
  • Replenish stock items i.e. all soap dispensers and handtowels.
  • Reconciliation of stock where appropriate.
  • Assist in the training of new starters by demonstrating duties to new starters.
  • Attend training course as required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
