    Job summary

    West London Children's Healthcare WLCH at St Mary's Hospital is a tertiary referral center which admits children and young people with acute and complex conditions. The Children Services at St Mary's Hospital are aligned with the paediatric care provision at Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex Hospitals and the post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team putting the service values of these three hospitals at the center of their practice.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 months maternity cover for the Band 7 Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist, based at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. This is a great opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide visible and supportive leadership to our team. The Paediatric Allergy Day Unit is a busy unit which provides a 5-day service; and supported by a team of world renowned Specialist Consultants, where staff are trained in oral food challenges, intravenous drug challenges, skin prick test, and spirometry.     Main duties of the job

    The post holder will work in partnership with service users and enabling their care and support by assessing and managing care of children who attend our Paediatric Allergy Day Unit and our consultant and nurse-led clinics, which includes the Hammersmith Hospital site. Aside from promoting positive learning culture, the post holder will lead on a range of risks, governance and quality improvement. The post holder will work with the MDT in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in elective, and emergency or unforeseen situations.

    It is an expectation that all staff employed who come in contact with children and young people have a duty to safeguard and promote their welfare.

    Essential

  • RSCN/RN/RN (child)
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject area or equivalent experience
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification or experience
  • Evidence of Continued professional development
  • Desirable

  • Advanced nursing practice qualification or working towards
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards
  • Allergy/Asthma Diploma
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience working within the Allergy/Asthma speciality
  • Possess the Capital Nursing Intravenous Passport or Equivalent
  • Advanced clinical skills and knowledge of patients clinical care.
  • Organisational and people management skills
  • Desirable

  • Experience in the management of paediatric allergy/ asthma
  • Has experience in autonomous nurse-led clinics or willing to engage in training
  • Experience of change management - positive change agent
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of current issues in patient safety and experience
