Do you have a passion for reading and a desire to enhance the literacy skills of others? Are you organised, dynamic and confident with young people?

Can you work independently and support departments?

We are looking for someone to co-ordinate the day-to-day running of our Library and manage a variety of reading and literacy based projects across the school, which inspire and enrich the pupils' understanding of literature and communication.

The Library is central to the school enabling access to an exciting range of opportunities to extend their literacy skills.

Within this role you will:

  • Facilitate the Accelerated reader programme working closely with the English Department
  • Work with a range of departments so students and teachers have access to suitable resources to fit their curriculum during lessons
  • Work with pupils on reading intervention programmes and mentoring
  • Initiate and promote reading for Year 5 and 6 primary school pupils
  • Maintain lunchtime reading clubs with KS3 and 4 students
  • Develop engaging activities for Year 6 pupils during Northgate's Literacy Summer School

This is an exciting opportunity to join a learning community that genuinely values the role of reading, literacy and independent learning.

If you are dedicated and enthusiastic about children's literacy and wider learning, and are passionate about reading, then this is the role for you.

Northgate High School is a truly comprehensive school with a strong community ethos.
