    An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Learning Disability Liaison Nursing Team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

    You will be based at St George's Hospital in Tooting but travel to other sites may be required on occasion.

    We are an established team who provide expert, caring flexible and holistic support to patients with a diagnosed Learning Disability receiving inpatient or outpatient care at our busy Acute Trust.


    We are looking for a qualified learning disability nurse who has knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities and a good understanding of health issues.


    Provide clinical assessments and intervention for people with learning disabilities, working closely with the clinical nurse specialist for learning disabilities and within the existing skilled safeguarding team.

    Work in a rewarding, challenging and developing service, which offers the candidate the opportunity to extend their assessment skills and knowledge, particularly in a Hospital setting.

    Review and initiate developments to enhance the quality of services for patients with learning disabilities and their carers and families
    Candidates must have an understanding of current health and social care issues which affect people with learning disabilities.

    Successful participants will receive an induction programme, with support from the Clinical Nurse Specialist for learning disabilities and the Safeguarding Lead Nurse, as well as other opportunities to develop further.

    The post sits within the wider Safeguarding Adults team at the Trust.

    Demonstrate clear understanding of the role of Liaison Nurse/Practitioner within Learning Disability Field of Nursing

    Able to teach patients/families and multidisciplinary teams about the care of a patient with learning disabilities

    Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
    Previous experience of audit/data collection
