    We're currently seeking a backend WordPress Developer to join our team in Staffordshire. This is a full-time hybrid role, offering the flexibility of remote work with the opportunity to spend 1-2 days in the office during onboarding and as needed.

    What you'll be doing

    • Working across our portfolio of clients, conducting maintenance, providing support, and tackling development tasks.
    • Writing clean, maintainable code adhering to WordPress Coding Standards.
    • Developing WooCommerce stores, enhancing functionality with extensions, overriding templates, and building out bespoke functionality through its system of hooks.
    • Crafting custom LearnDash LMS websites, crafting engaging courses with bespoke interactive elements.
    • Creating custom WordPress themes, transforming designs into optimised responsive layouts, with a focus on performance and user experience.

    Skills you'll bring

    • Solid proficiency in PHP and WordPress development.
    • Experience in both back-end and front-end development.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms, particularly WooCommerce, including templating, extensions, and custom development.
    • Experience in developing bespoke WordPress and WooCommerce plugins.
    • Knowledge of the WordPress API and its functions

    We work on a flexible hybrid model of remote and office based working. Candidates within a reasonable commutable distance to our Stafford office are preferred but not essential.

    Bonus points

    • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (we use CodyFrame).
    • Knowledge of ACF Blocks.
    • Knowledge of JavaScript/React.
    • Experience in an agency or similar fast-paced environment.
    • MySQL database usage and optimisation.
    • WP-CLI commands.
    • REST API and GraphQL.
    • WordPress core architecture.
    • Gutenberg blocks.
    • Headless CMS and full site editing.
    • Semantic HTML5 coding.
    • Accessibility (WCAG 2.0+, WCAG 3, UAAG, ARIA, etc.)
    • SEO best practices.
    • Tooling, including version control software such as Git. Build tools for Sass such as gulp.
