Job Purpose:


  • To provide cover and support for equivalent Senior Business Support Officers in all areas as required
  • Supervise the central and locality based business support services staff.
  • To lead in oversight and development of Children and Family Services business support services and all support functions and processes
  • To support Service Managers in the relevant service areas including overseeing the booking systems/rotas/allocation of work to business support services staff.
  • To be involved where necessary and oversee and support all budget monitoring processes in regard to service budgets.
  • To work with and liaise confidently with a range of internal and external agencies to ensure children receive our services and monitor appropriate information including statutory/business critical requirements.
  • It is vital to the future of the department that the post holder is flexible in taking on additional tasks, willing to offer help to employees and treats cooperation and support for colleagues as a top priority.

Essential requirements:


  • NVQ 4 or equivalent experience in business administration
  • A Level in English Language Or equivalent standard of written & spoken English
  • Extensive admin experience in a public or commercial setting.
  • Recent experience of supervising staff
  • Experience in recruitment of staff
  • Experience in work allocation
  • Experience in workload management
  • Experience in using computerised databases
  • Experience in working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Experience in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience of working with minimum supervision.
  • Experience of reconciling budgets in a commercial/public setting
  • Experience of admin within public sector
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to produce highly accurate work, with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Able to cope emotionally with constant exposure to /working with detailed information relating to child abuse
