    Description

    An exciting opportunity as the Head of Compliance has come to market within a prestigious Legal 500 firm situated in London. In this role, you will oversee the firm's compliance efforts and provide leadership in adhering to regulatory standards. Reporting directly to the Management Committee, you will be instrumental in managing the compliance function to ensure alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Developing and implementing comprehensive risk mitigation strategies, processes, and frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance and protect the firm from potential losses.
    • Analysing changes in regulatory environments and developing recommendations on adapting existing risk and compliance programs accordingly.
    • Acting as a subject matter expert on regulatory issues impacting the business, and providing guidance to the partnership on issues of risk and compliance.
    • Leading and managing the Risk & Compliance team.
    • Establishing and maintaining robust compliance programs, including policy and procedure development, training, and auditing.
    • Collaborating with the IT & Facilities Manager to integrate risk management and compliance processes into the firm's IT infrastructure.
    • Leading risk projects to ensure that they are correctly scoped and implemented. This will range from implementing new policies and procedures to reviewing onboarding procedures.
    • Building a safe, supportive, and transparent culture around risk and compliance matters.
    • Managing new and evolving risks proactively, and ensuring that regulatory requirements are met as part of a strong risk management strategy.
    • Acting as a point of escalation for complaints handling.
    • Collaborating with the firm's Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with legislation.
    • Advising on sanctions and ensuring compliance.
    • Overseeing procurement (within the Risk and Compliance team) which deals with both supplier contracts and unusual client terms.
    • Providing relevant risk and compliance training or arranging for training to take place.

    Key Attributes required:

    • Having a lead compliance role directly supporting the COLP or previously holding the COLP.
    • Being a qualified Lawyer is preferred (Ideally E&W).
    • Extensive experience working with the SRA Standards and Regulations.
    • Experience in regulatory compliance within a legal landscape.
