Job Role - SENCo

Up to 20 hours per week (flexible working pattern)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our youth provision. Joining a dynamic team working within our post 16 study programmes across 2 centres. You will be committed to supporting our learners to achieve the best outcomes.

Your main area of responsibility will be:

  • carry out assessments of learners with SEND to identify needs and determine a support package, including access arrangements for formal exams
- work closely with safeguarding and learner support manager throughout the consultation and recruitment process
- attend annual EHCP reviews and support with next steps progression for learners
- work with tutors, SMT, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans
- make referrals and liaise with professionals - this could include psychologists, health and social care providers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists
- provide advice, guidance and training to tutors on supporting learners with SEND
- support tutors to develop schemes of work and learning programmes for learners with SEN

  • Keep accurate records and write reports for learner contractual paperwork

Qualifications:


  • Qualified teacher status (note this is s requirement under the SEND code of practice)
  • National Award for SEN Coordination

Experience:


  • Experience of working with varied age groups
  • Experience of working with vulnerable young people
  • Experience of working SEND learners
  • Experience of caseload management

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Extensive knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality
  • Understanding of the examination and access arrangements process for SEND learners
  • Sound knowledge of diagnostic and assessment tools used with learners with SEND

£28k - £32k (pro rata)
