Location:

The opening applies for any of our offices in the UK and Denmark, such as Copenhagen, Vejle, London or Bristol, based on local terms and conditions.

There may be some travel in Europe, North America or Asia in relation to your work.


As a GIS Services Team Lead, your main objective will be to provide high-quality geospatial support to our clients in the offshore wind industry.


Areas of responsibility
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the establishment and management of a dedicated GIS team within WT.

This team will sit within our Geophysics, Surveys, and GIS (GSG) department, but you and your team will be responsible for the provision of GIS services throughout the company and to our external clients.

In the first 1-2 months, your role will comprise:

  • Developing an understanding of the company's current GIS processes and services
  • Working with your colleagues to identify GIS service requirements both within the company and to support our clients
  • Identification of resourcing requirements to meet these needs
  • Technical GIS support within the GSG dept.
From 2-3 months on, your role will expand to include:

  • Supporting HR in the recruitment of talent to grow the GIS team
  • Standardisation and documentation of existing GIS procedures
  • In conjunction with the data management team, developing and managing strategies for transfer, storage, analysis, versioning, and visualisation of multidisciplinary spatial data archives (e.g. geophysical, geotechnical, and metocean data) for offshore wind farm developments

In the long term, your role will cover:

  • Acting as GIS champion to promote the awareness and use of GIS throughout the company
  • Providing technical leadership with respect to monitoring of GIS needs within the company, maintaining existing service offerings, and identifying and developing new service offerings
  • Line management of your team with respect to project resourcing, staff wellbeing, mentorship, and development
  • Working with the Head of Department and Chief Consultants to service business development and marketing needs
  • Managing the administration of GIS software within the company, including software and data licence management
  • Managing the development and maintenance of projectspecific, integrated, multidisciplinary spatial data archives for offshore wind developments
  • Overseeing spatial data and metadata QA/QC
  • Managing the development and documentation of analytical tools for large geospatial datasets (e.g. geophysical, geotechnical, metocean)
  • Leading workflow automation for efficient production of geospatial deliverables, including charting solutions
  • Online GIS portal management
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient exchange of knowledge.

Your background

  • You should hold either a Master's degree or significant equivalent experience in GIS. You should thrive in a multidisciplinary, international environment and speak and write English fluently. You should have a strong drive and take the initiative and responsibility for your assignments, and you should be motivated by creating excellent results through teamwork.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with clients and other consultants effectively
  • Relevant experience as a geospatial analyst in a related field
  • Demonstrable skills with ESRI products and QGIS for data analysis and presentation
