Description

We are seeking a talented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
Operations & Commercial Assistant to join our client's rapidly growing startup business based in
Leeds on a hybrid basis.


This role is pivotal in supporting the commercial operations, including purchasing, logistics, and sales, and presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-growth startup where your contributions directly influence company success.


Responsibilities:


  • Process orders and manage followups including POs, despatch notes, invoices, etc.
  • Conduct supply and demand forecasting based on market conditions and customer requirements.
  • Manage stock levels and planning.
  • Oversee and operate CRM and ERP software.
  • Liaise with warehouses for order despatch and communicate updates or issues to customers.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues.
  • Record sales information, documents, and customer contact details.
  • Ensure timely receipt of payments from customers and conduct credit checks when necessary.
  • Arrange samples for customers and monitor stock levels at thirdparty sample companies.
  • Perform general administration duties including marketing support, event organization, scheduling, and office maintenance.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for trade shows and customer visits.

Essential Requirements:


  • Minimum 2 years of previous purchasing, logistics, and customer service experience.
  • Understanding of distribution companies and insight into the chemicals industry.
  • Experience with road, sea, and air freight.
  • Enthusiastic, openminded, and eager to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • Organized, selfmotivated, and proactive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in software such as CRMs, ERPs, and Xero.
  • Techsavvy with proficiency in Microsoft software.
  • Ability to work independently under remote management.
  • Highly proficient in English.

Advantageous/Desirable Qualities:


  • Experience with dangerous goods transport and storage.
  • Interest or previous experience in the chemicals industry.
  • Logistics experience including import/export procedures and incoterms.
  • Experience in warehousing, stock management, and invoicing.
  • Previous experience working for an agent or distributor would be desirable

Salary:

£25,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
