    Job summary

Are you an RMN with experience working with adults with complex mental health problems?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 charge nurse to work in a recently opened health-based place of safety ('136 suite') at the Woodlands Centre for Acute Care, part of the Sussex Partnership and based in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. Woodlands is a busy 23-bed Acute unit split into male and female wards which sits alongside the 136 suite. We are looking for a charge nurse to work in this new facility.

This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).

    Main duties of the job

Band 6's at Woodlands also incorporate the role of the unit co-ordinator and the 136 nurse for our Place of Safety on a rotation basis in addition to working on the wards. The role will be supporting junior staff with supervision, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team and role modelling. The role also is supporting the management team by undertaking governance checks on the wards such as clinical audits and taking the lead in clinical areas. We pride ourselves with the high standard of care delivered to people that have been detained by the police and brought to us for a safe assessment of their mental health needs, so there would be training and on-going support from the ward mangers across the unit in order to maintain this high standard and make you feel supported in delivering this role.

Our patients are keen for new nurses joining the team to demonstrate empathy, time to talk and listen.

    About us

We are very proud of our standards and are looking for someone who is ready to learn andkeen to develop. Also an important attribute is the ability to adapt to evolving change in order to facilitate excellent clinical care.

In November 2018, Woodlands was recognized at the Trust's Positive Practice awards with a Gold medal in the Team Award (clinical) category, an outstanding achievement for the team.

In 2021, Woodlands was part of the Hastings services that received the Highly Commended Covid Response Team of the year.
