    Our Brand Story

Until 1986, the humble canary was an essential part of mining safety. Coal miners took canaries into the mines to serve as an early warning signal for toxic gases and other risks. If the canary stopped singing, it was time to evacuate—and bring their trusted canaries with them. By the late 1990s, it became common to replace birds with sensors, but the miners regretted the loss. Quoted in the Daily Mail, "There is something about hearing them singing when you start work that lifts the spirits." Today, workers use technology and data to keep themselves safe from harm and safeguard the world around them. Our logo pays tribute to and draws inspiration from this extraordinary little bird. By placing the canary in a shield, we connect our logo to our mission of helping organizations create safe, sustainable, efficient workplaces that protect future generations.
