About the role
The role of a Generic Housing Officer in the council at Corby is a varied and interesting role.

Currently the Housing Officers are split into two main groups - some focusing on Income Management and the others on Tenancy Management.

This vacant role will initially form part of the Tenancy Management Team.

Hours of Work:
Mon 9-4.30pm Tues off Weds 9-4.30pm Thurs 9-5pm Fri 9-5pm

Salary Range £30,000- £32,000 Pro Rata

What will you be doing?

The purpose of the Housing Officer role at Corby is to offer all tenants in need of support assistance to sustain their tenancy.

To do this you will be carrying out a range of Tenancy Management tasks in line with the Councils Policies and Procedures, including preparing adverts for empty properties, conducting verification home visits, undertaking viewings, accurately preparing and completing tenancy agreements and associated signup paperwork ensuring applicants are aware of their obligations and responsibilities as a new tenant.


You will also be responsible for administering he downsizing scheme and promote the financial benefits to tenants who are under occupying their homes.

A flavour of the other tasks you will be undertaking includes:

  • Investigate incidents of property abandonment.
  • Completing referrals to the Occupational Therapist and assessing recommendations for adaptations received.
  • Conducting Post Tenancy visits for new tenants and Tenancy Reviews and Property inspections.
  • Investigate complaints of ASB, neighbour nuisance, neighbour disputes and work closely with the Community Safety team and the Police.
