Apprentice Administration Assistant / ATO.


Base:
Neurophysiology Department, Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.

Fixed Term Apprenticeship contract for 18 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neurophysiology Department for an enthusiastic individual to join our team.

You will have opportunity to develop the skills that help provide a comprehensive and effective administrative service as well as gaining insight into the provision of education and development within the NHS.


Working as part of a team you will gain experience in a range of different communication techniques with a wide range of internal/external personnel.

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours a week. A proportion of time will be spent with a training provider studying towards the Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship.


To fulfil all reception, clerical and ATO duties of the Neurophysiology department, including efficient management of all waiting lists, booking appointments, liaising with various locum shifts from visiting locums and consultants.

Ability to be flexible to cover all areas as directed by Clinical Admin Lead.

To assist in the clinical environment, assisting with patients when required by the physiologists.


To understand the complete range of administration functions, responsibilities and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.


To ensure Attendances, Outcomes, Referral to Treatment (RTT) and Procedure codes are recorded onto PAS in line with policies and procedures which will guarantee funding to the Trust.


Data quality check the outcomes of clinic annotations altering PAS to reflect the relevant clinical notes in close co-operation with the Medical Secretary/Team Co-ordinator.

Data entry input to national records systems and departmental records.


Bring to the attention of the clinical staff all results in a timely manner and promptly act on any instructions given regarding these.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.

To scan documentation and appropriate store electronic data as required.

Book follow-up appointments as required/requested in line with Trust Policy.


Ensure case notes are maintained in accordance with the Trust's Case Note Management Policy and that all correspondence, reports and results are filed correctly and in a timely manner.

Ensure a good working knowledge is maintained of RTT rules and guidance.

Any other tasks (clerical and technical) as required.

To complete the Apprenticeship within the agreed timescales.

Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
