    The role
    As a Weapons Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll have the opportunity to support the team undertaking defect rectification, repair, overhaul and operational support on a wide range of weapon systems and naval equipment in support of the Royal Navy.

    Day-to-day, you'll be the technical lead in set to work and installation/maintenance activities. Primarily improving the 4.5-Medium Calibre Gun (MCG) naval weapons system but will also support a wide portfolio of best-in-class intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solution, communications and weapons launch and handling solutions.

  • Set to work activities include fault rectification within the test site and on board
  • Factory acceptance testing within the test site
  • Operational Defect (OPDEF) support on Royal Navy vessels including system heath checks
  • Facilitating key stakeholders to keep them up to date on the current status and reporting progress
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Compile technical report documents
  • This role is full time, 35-hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. You must be able to work away from site at short notice.

    Essential experience of the Weapons Systems Engineer

  • Proven experience working as a Weapons System engineer or within an engineering discipline.
  • Experience of Gunnery/Fire Control systems or similar complex sensor systems and proven experience of Royal Navy operations and/or support
  • Excellent communicator, both verbally and in written form
  • Awareness of systems engineering practices and systems thinking is an essential part of this role
  • Possess good computer literacy, with demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to adopt and utilise specialist software as required
  • Qualifications for the Weapons Systems Engineer

  • HNC or equivalent
  • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
