We are recruiting for a full-time Assurance Lead in the Corporate Nursing Patient Safety Team.


The Trust seeks an individual passionate about quality and safety, with experience in governance and inspections with the commitment to make a difference in this vital role.


You will be based in the Corporate Nursing Directorate and will support services in achieving and maintaining high-quality standards across the Trust.

You will need a highly organised approach, managing complex information and communicating it clearly to a range of audiences while taking a diplomatic and sensitive approach.


The role presents an excellent opportunity to work with colleagues across the organisation with significant exposure to a wide range of external stakeholders, including commissioners and regulators.

The post holder will be the point of contact for the Care Quality Commission and maintain monitoring systems to support assurance and inspections, plus supporting other quality intelligence, including the Trust's quality priorities and organisational learning.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.


You will be responsible for all aspects of assurance management within the role, including CQC, and contribute towards the Trust's overall quality management arrangements.

The post will provide support and guidance to clinicians and managers for all aspects of assurance management.


The post will manage the continuous development of all Trust Controlled Document management policies and procedures in line with NHS legislation and guidance and support practice throughout the organisation, including responsibility for the maintenance and further development of the Trust's Controlled Documents database.

Support the continuous development of a proactive assurance and quality-focused culture and practice throughout the organisation


Actively promote and ensure good assurance governance practices and contribute to the achievement of national quality and assurance standards such as the CQC fundamental standards and internal and external performance indicators providing reports in respect of these as required.


To manage the coordination of any processes with a direct link to CQC, in terms of Provider Information Requests and Enquiry requests.

To organised and coordinate the Trust clinical review programme and quality compliance framework assessments to ensure the continual development of safe, high-quality care for patients attending the Trust

To prepare assurance-related reports monitored centrally and through the governance reporting structure.

To manage the Trusts Controlled Document database to a high quality and provide accurate reports on controlled document issues to the Divisions and through the Quality Governance Committee Structure.

To escalate in a timely manner where, in the professional opinion of the post holder, there is sub-optimal action in relation to individual controlled documents.

To contribute to the improvement of the management of controlled documents in the Trust, developing and identifying improvements.


In liaison with the Head of Patient Safety manage the Policy and Guidelines Review Group Agenda and provide secretarial support.

To ensure that there is an effective and recorded dialogue within service settings in respect of the management of controlled documents.


Actively promote and ensure good assurance governance practices and contribute to the achievement of national quality and assurance standards such as the CQC fundamental standards and internal and external performance indicators providing reports in respect of these as required.


To manage the coordination of any processes with a direct link to CQC, in terms of Provider Information Requests and Enquiry Request.


To work collaboratively with clinicians and managers, using developed analytical skills, to identify assurance management priorities both straddling the whole or parts of the organisation and pertinent to clinical areas or departments.


To offer advice, guidance, and support on the range and most appropriate methods to identify and manage assurance and compliance successfully.
