The role

As an Appointed Person - Lifting Operations, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will play a key role in the day-to-day safe planning of lifting operations across the Devonport site.

This will include the daily liaison with various teams across the site to ensure all lifts are planned and carried out in a safe and timely manner.

Day to day, you'll play a pivotal role within a central team to support the sites lifting requirements. You will be responsible for the management, organisation, planning and control of lifting services across the Devonport Site.

  • Providing planning, resourcing, and observing lifting operations on the Devonport site, this will include the identifying of equipment, personnel, and methods for undertaking various lifting operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments of lifting operations, identifying hazards and mitigations to suitably control risks to an acceptable level and communicating those assessments including environment to the various teams involved
  • Ensuring compliance to the lift plans and ensuring all operations are being conducted in line with legislation and site standards.
  • Implementing and following site procedures and legislation while driving efficiency and effectiveness into operations, ensuring a zeroharm culture.
  • Setting personnel to work and managing outputs, whilst rewarding positive actions, managing poor performance and behaviours to embed a positive change culture

Essential experience of the Appointed Person - Lifting Operations:

  • Previous experience in lifting operations
  • Experience in managing multidisciplined teams, managing complex, high risk activities and complying with both internal and external legislation.
  • IT Literate with experience of MS Office Packages
  • A proven history of effective leadership and management is advantageous as it forms a large element of the role.
  • This is a full time role working 36 hours per week, with potential for shift work and overtime. Days and Backs shifts potential to work weekends. The role is based On Site at Devonport with some hybrid working.

Qualifications for the Appointed Person - Lifting Operations:

  • Possess an NVQ level 5 Appointed Person qualification or CPCS A61 Appointed Person Red Card or Blue Card or NPORS N401 Appointed Person
