Description

As the Senior IT Specialist your main responsibilities will include: Supervise and maintain the delivery of IT systems within Microbiology (MRI) and act as the key point of knowledge.

Supervise & support the I.T Specialists in their work and development. Following agreed procedures, carry out routine configuration/installation and provide sufficient information for reconfiguration of hardware and software.

Be responsible for maintaining stocks of IT consumable items as appropriate, ensuring they are recorded on relevant systems & are secure.

Install and set up new PCs, with appropriate software whilst following asset control processes. Supervise laboratory network infrastructure to allow assistance in maintaining it in good working order, with back-up processes followed. Develop a good working knowledge of the LIS to allow assistance in troubleshooting, optimisation and onward development. Work with the LIMs provider in maintaining calls logged with them and help manage the overall LIMs contract.

Be accountable for the accurateness of the daily checks of servers/hardware.

To become familiar with other databases within the department to enable support to be given to the maintenance and development of these databases.
