    Job summary

    Our Children and Young People's (CYP) Mental Health SupportTeams are working with children and young people who are experiencing mild tomoderate mental health issues. This includes working with parents/caregivers ofPrimary School age pupils and working with Secondary schools and colleges todevelop the support they offer the whole school community. It aims tostrengthen the links between education, health services and families in Harlow,Epping Forest and Uttlesford.

    Purposeof the Job: You will be working in amulti-disciplinary team and will be responsible for managing and providingclinical and case management supervision to other team members. You will alsohold your own small caseload and deliver MHST interventions in schools. Primarily the team members will include Qualified andTrainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners, who will deliver group andindividual low intensity CBT interventions to children and young people andsome support packages for parents/caregivers. As part of this programme, you will need to be successful in yourapplication to attend and receive training in supervision, provided by aUniversity to support this area of your work. Trainingcourse is one years duration and requires approximately 20 days attendance atuniversity over the year along with course work and assignments. Additional study time and support will be provided. Note,successful completion of this training is a requirement for this role.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will havean active caseload of children and adolescents with mild moderate emotionaland mental health difficulties and will use evidence-based therapeutic models.Low intensity, early interventions will be delivered in a range of educationsettings (primary, secondary, and colleges). The work will also includetraining for education professionals and developing the teams ability to servethe needs of the whole school community including children and young personscaregivers.

    You will work with CYP andfamilies from different cultural backgrounds, using interpreters whennecessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities. You will alsowork closely with colleagues and partners in the Local Authority, SET CAMHS, educationsettings where interventions are being delivered and other relevant mentalhealth providers.

    Essential

  • Familiarity with CBT evidence-base, both within clinical training and delivering interventions.
  • Direct clinical experience (autonomously providing assessment, developing treatment plans and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions) with CYP aged 5-18 with mental health difficulties.
  • Knowledge and direct clinical experience of adapting interventions and delivering them to CYP.
  • Experience of routine clinical outcome monitoring.
  • Experience of clinical risk assessment.
  • Understanding of child development and psychosocial influences.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary mental health team/environment.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and case management. Experience of supervising team members.
  • Experience of supervising safeguarding cases.
  • Experience of working in education settings.
  • Experience of delivering Low Intensity/Psycho-educational interventions to groups of CYP, educational staff and/or parents/caregivers.

Training course is one years duration and requires approximately 20 days attendance at university over the year along with course work and asignments. Additional study time and support will be provided.
