    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Radiology Department at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust covering the governance lead radiographer. We are a large cross-site department and have high standards of quality, safety, and patient care.

    This is a pivotal role in creating and maintaining a radiation safety culture across all members of staff within the department. Your knowledge and skills will support understanding of legal requirements and responsibilities involving IR(ME)R17 and IRR17 across the Trust and within the community.

    This is a one year secondment post. Please advise that you must have approval from your current manager before applying.

    Evidence of qualifications will be requested at interview and during compliance stages.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will ensure that all aspects of our services operate within robust clinical governance and quality assurance guidelines. They will also undertake regular audit of standards and performance as well as the writing of relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

    Optimum patient care will be achieved whilst working within the strict Radiation Protection guidelines governed by the Royal College of Radiologists, the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, IR(ME)R, the Ionising Radiation Regulations, IRR2017 and the local support offered by the Radiation Protection Advisor at the Medical Physics department of the Christie Hospital.

    Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Clinical Radiographer with evidence of extended role(s)
  • NHS experience in leadership or first line management level post or equivalent
  • Working with sensitive/confidential information
  • Experience of providing training
  • Experience of managing multiple projects, deadlines and fluctuating workloads
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience within a governance related area (e.g., clinical risk management, incidents, complaints, clinical effectiveness, quality and safety)
  • Clinical professional background
  • Evidence of having undertaken audit
  • Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Degree Level/or equivalent in Radiography
  • Further Masters/Doctoroate or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of further study
  • Management/Leadership Qualification and/or study
  • Skills

  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills to ensure challenging groups work together.
