The Company


Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking for a skilled Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.


The Role

  • Act as the organisation's competent person for Health and Safety & Environmental matters as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 199
  • Ensure the organisation complies with current and forthcoming Health and Safety & Environmental legislation. Approved Codes of Practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision.
  • Work proactively with managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the organisation.
  • To assist managers, implement Health & Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Provide direct support and leadership of the Health, Safety and environmental requirements to all departments including the battery directive.
  • Ensure the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy is implemented and monitored consistently across client site.
  • Assist in the identification of training needs for employees and develop/deliver training as required.
  • Support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support.
  • Ensure all contracting employees are compliant and work in accordance with site procedures.
  • Carryout audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health, safety & Environmental systems, and procedures, identify and implement improvements.
  • Investigate and to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence.
  • Ensure routine Health & Safety activities and checks are carried out e.g., testing of portable electrical appliances, internal asbestos surveying, emergency lighting, the review of risk assessments and where necessary introduce relevant control measures.
  • Support the Quality team with their 9001 auditing requirements.

The Person

  • A good standard of education, holding NEBOSH qualification.
  • Knowledge of 45001, 14001 and REACH.
  • Management of emergency procedures.
  • Support of Crisis situations
  • CRISIS Management
  • COSHH.
