    Job summary

    We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Speech and Language Therapists interested in working with children to join ourteam in East Kent. The post can involve working with both an early years and a school years caseload.

    The Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children years within KCHFT.

    Thisvacancy is within the North Kent Team and you will be based in East Kent (Canterbury/Thanet).

    The successful applicantwill join our Children's Therapies team and will be supported by our Speech and Language Team Leads and the networkof Clinical Leads across Kent. you will be supported to provide, assessment and intervention to children and families withinEast Kent.

    We work closely with colleagues from other health, education and social care teams to provide an integrated team around the child post is for hours a week but part-time hours would be considered.

    We are currently working both face to face from clinics, within the community and also remotely which can be workedfrom home.

    Main duties of the job

    To assess, plan and implement SLT interventions that support children with a range of speech, language andcommunication needs.

    To deliver evidence-based SLT interventions for children that support them achieving their identified health outcomes.

    To develop integrated care plans in partnership with the child, young person and / or family recommending and supportinginterventions that are appropriate at a universal, targeted and specialist level.

    To participate in clinical supervision and to work as part of an integrated team with Therapy Assistants, OTs, PTs, SLTs,Care Co-ordinators and Specialist Nurse Advisors offering support to colleagues as appropriate to knowledge and skills.

    To actively work as a member of a multi disciplinary and multi-agency teams to provide high quality care to children andyoung people in line with our care pathways.

    To manage a caseload of children that on a daily basis consisting of children and young people with complex needs.

    Additional Working Pattern: Mon- Fri hours/day within core hours 8-18:00.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant Professional body (HCPC)
  • Degree in a health relevant subject (speech & Language Therapy)
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Knowledge of up to date clinical practice
  • Desirable

  • Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS
