The Role
The CAA's Risk Management Function is responsible for maintaining and improving our


The CAA Risk Lead role provides an opportunity to work across the organisation and understand and support the full range of duties the CAA performs, and the risks we manage, to run our functions effectively, deliver our strategy and protect consumers and the public.


Core Accountabilities

  • Corporate Risk Reporting
  • Support & deputise for CAA Enterprise Risk Manager including corporate risk reporting/presentations to the Exec Committee, Audit Committee, Board (& other forums as required)


  • Corporate Risk Improvements

  • Contribute to and lead some of the work packages to further develop and improve the CAA's enterprise risk management arrangements, including awareness/training, key risk indicators, risk policies and risk appetite


  • Business Risk Partnering

  • Act as Business Risk Partner for one or more CAA business area
  • Internal Engagement engage with colleagues across the CAA to support and facilitate active risk management. Also engage with/help shape other corporate initiatives, such as integrated planning, horizon scanning, etc.
  • External engagement and reporting work with external organisations as required to understand and share best practice. Coordinate the risk disclosures for the CAA's external annual report

  • Become competent in the use of the CAA's Risk Management System

About You

Essential Knowledge, skills and experience:


  • Ability to take the lead (with mínimal supervision) on developing and motivating colleagues, including nonrisk professionals, to improve organisation wide risk management arrangements
  • Strong analytical, and written/presentational skills, including the ability to provide clear, concise and value adding risk updates/reports to senior colleagues
  • Proficient in the use of office IT tools/software (Word, PowerPoint, etc)

Desirable (but not essential):


  • Relevant risk management qualification (or in the process of working towards one) or willing to undertake a professional qualification once in post as required
  • Familiarity with/experience of public sector risk management approaches

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.


To be vetted you must have the right to work in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.
