We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, organised Directorate Support Officer to join our exciting team working in the Emergency and Acute Medicine Directorate based at the Emergency Department, University Hospital of Wales.


The work includes contact with staff, patients, Police, external agencies therefore excellent communication and inter person skills along with a professional and friendly approach is required.

You will have a high regard for confidentiality.

With a busy workload you must be organised and a capable self-starter, able to work on your own initiative and prioritise tasks in order to cope with tight deadlines.

There is 1 x 37.5 hour, permanent post and 1 x22.5 hours, fixed term for 6 months post available.

  • To provide an efficient, comprehensive directorate support & administrative duties for directorates within Emergency and Acute Medicine, ensuring high standards at all times and in conjunction with department leads.
  • To work as part of the Emergency and Acute Medicine Team providing support to the Directorate Management Teams and lead nurses within the department.
  • Liaise with and schedule meetings for staff, working alongside the Coordinating team.
  • Use a number of IT systems for data entry and report generation.
  • Liaise effectively with other UHB admin and clinical staff and communicate with staff, patients and relatives to answer queries and resolve concerns.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
