    What is the opportunity?The Compliance function is an independent function that identifies, assesses, advises on and monitors compliance risk – that is the risk of regulatory sanctions as a result of failure to comply with applicable regulations.

    The Compliance function exists to support Mizuho by enabling it to conduct business lawfully, in accordance with regulatory requirements and with integrity.

    The main objective of the Compliance function is to provide an active advisory and monitoring service in relation to regulatory requirements, especially those of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

    This role has important responsibilities in helping to ensure the Compliance function effectively discharges its responsibilities.

    What will you be doing?You will assist with the delivery of a varied range of Central Compliance responsibilities, including:


    • External Compliance related regulatory reporting;
    • Mizuho Group Compliance regulatory reporting, including reporting to Tokyo and within London;
    • You will assist in the preparation of reports regarding Compliance matters to the firm's executive and board committees;
    • Employee related compliance matters, including personal conflicts reviews (e.g. OBI, G&E)
    • You will enhance procedures and controls relevant to the operation of this function;
    • You will maintain good working relationships with Compliance colleagues, business management and other control functions;
    • You will undertake other responsibilities as agreed with other Compliance areas and / or may be directed by senior Compliance staffWhat do you need to succeed?
    • 5 years + experience within the banking industry
    • Demonstrable experience in the coordination and preparation of reports and management information and a good understanding of the appropriate governance and controls involved in reporting.
    • Experience of managing personal conflicts of interest (Outside Business Interests, Gifts & Entertainment) preferred but not essential.
    • Analytical, attention to detail, organised, enjoys team working, commitment to professional standards.
