    We are asmall, friendly team who work closely with colleagues across the IntegratedCare System (ICS) to support safe, evidence based and cost effective medicationuse for the people of Dorset.     Pharmacy Technician roles atNHS Dorset allow you to use your skills and knowledge in a different way; yourskills will be developed and used dynamically as you manage your own time andworkload to deliver on the workstreams and projects you are part of. We wantour team to be creative in their approach to this role and we encourage individualsto think outside of the box.

    Main duties of the job

    We want to work with yourpersonal skill set and strengths to determine which workstreams you can supportand influence.

    Duties may include:

  • Facilitating communication andlearning across the Integrated Care System.
  • You willwork as part of our team who provide specialist input into medicines pathways,maintaining the Dorset Formulary and prescribing tools. Contributing to diseasespecific workstreams, supporting the implementation of NICE TAs and othernational guidance. Providing key advice on medicines to colleagues across thesystem.
  • Interpreting prescribingtrends and analyse data to make positive changes to prescribing across Dorset, usingyour own experience to understand why trends appear and how best to positivelychallenge issues that are identified.
  • Supporting the Medicines Value team in developing andimplementing the Quality, Safety and Cost Effectiveness plans. You would beworking with colleagues within general practice to deliver this, listening tofeedback, reviewing progress and taking proactive steps to ensure targets aremet. By doing this, we have a positive impact on the local health economy.

    Job responsibilities

    To support the medicines optimisation team inthe commissioning support to NHS Dorset to commission safe and evidence-basedmedicines use.

    To provide advice and support to the primarycare networks and practices in NHS Dorset to deliver the medicines optimisationagenda and manage with in the prescribing budget.

    To promote rational cost-effective prescribingand assist in developing and delivering the ICB medicines optimisation andprescribing strategies.

    To support the updating and uploading to theDorset formulary

    Provide technical support to system medicinesworking groups and meetings including Dorset Medicines Advisory Group andinterface groups communicating with a multi-disciplinary membership through avariety of media.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • NVQ3/BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
  • Further qualifications in medicines management and other relevant areas.
  • Relevant diploma or equivalent level of training and experience, plus further management knowledge or experience to degree level equivalent.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Recent previous experience within a comparable role.
  • Recent previous experience of working within a customer focused environment.
  • Previous experience of working within defined standard operating procedures.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

    Essential

  • Knowledge of a full range of secretarial/administrative procedures.
  • Advanced keyboard/touch typing Skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to use own initiative within sphere of responsibility.
  • Minute taking skills
  • Evidence of good communication Skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability at exercising tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse situations and to provide a resolution.
