Description
We are seeking a Ultrasound Lead to join our Ultrasound and Cardiology services.

You will drive best practice and overall patient care within our service, ensuring efficiency and performance against service level Key Performance Indicators.

You will also quality control the care provided by the clinical team, including the delivery of random audit and direct observation of individual clinicians as necessary and will provide second opinions on patients where needed

You will report to the Service Manager and the Group Medical Director, assisting the management team in the selection and recruitment of clinical personnel and be responsible for the ongoing supervision and mentoring of new and existing staff, you will actively seek ways of reducing financial outgoings by new ways of working and motivating all the staff to deliver maximum efficiency.

The majority of the workload will be carried out remotely, however, there will be a requirement for some on-site work around supervision of the clinical teams.

Leading monthly Quality Assurance Meetings with the clinical team, with meetings focussing on upskilling the clinical team, as well as learning from complaints, incidents and clinical audits.

Supporting the business development team and service management teams with clinical aspects of new business development and commissioner relationships, this may include support with writing tenders and attendance at commissioner meetings.

Ensuring the auditing is conducted to the relevant standards, you will audit 5% of the referrals monthly
Ensure the safety and quality of patient care is monitored effectively
Any significant events are acted upon, reported and followed up as necessary and on-going feedback loop is in place to provide a learning environment for the whole clinical team
Handling complaints and significant events
Available for second opinions as requested by practicing clinicians / support staff
Periodic supervision of all clinicians, this will include a 'shared session', in which, more complex or challenging cases will be reviewed together
Formal annual appraisal of clinicians
To maintain good working relationships with the local NHS commissioners and neighbouring practices
To attend NHS commissioner meetings as necessary
You must be on the GMC specialist register for radiology
