    Due to staff movement within the Acute Tissue Viability Team an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician to join us. The post is for a permanent position of 37.5 hours per week.

    This would be an ideal opportunity for a clinician with a passion for Tissue Viability who would like to broaden their knowledge and skill in a supportive and friendly team. The successful candidate will already possess in-depth Tissue Viability knowledge and understanding. The role requires experience in quality innovation and improvement programmes. Applicants must have a working knowledge of the National Wound Care Strategy and current wound care practices. The ability to build and present education programmes is required alongwith knowledge of both Acute and Community services, chronic and acute wound management. For informal discussions please contact Bethan Dennis / or Main duties of the job The Tissue Viability service is a nurse led expert advisory service, providing specialist evidenced based advice and education on complex and non-healing wounds. We provide advice to patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals. To provide and support the Tissue Viability Specialist in the provision of Tissue Viability Service. As a member of the Tissue Viability Team assist in the development of a quality, proactive, evidence based tissue viability service. Within the focus of Tissue viability the post holder will: Participate in the development of nursing practice within Tissue viability and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge Take a lead role facilitating the planning and evaluation of care for a designated group of patients Provide specialist education and training About us If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham.     • Relevant post registration experience.
    • Experience in a clinical setting
    • Good working knowledge of tissue viability in an acute hospital setting.
    • Experience with Topical negative pressure, wound debridement, larvae therapy and complex wound management
    • Experience of working to targets.
    Desirable
    • Administrative and IT skills Experience as a Tissue Viability nurse or experience as a Tissue Viability link nurse.
    • Experience of report writing. Experience delivering presentations.
    • Experience undertaking audits
    • Experience of data analysis.
    Special Requirements Essential
    • To work autonamously
    • To be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
    Qualifications Essential
    • A recognised mentorship qualification, i.e. 730/998 or equivalent.
    • Degree level education.

    Statutory Registration Essential
    • Registered General Nurse Level 1 with valid current NMC registration

    • Ability to manage own workload. Evidence of continuing professional development.
    • Ability to demonstrate sound teaching and presentation skills using powerpoint presentations
    • Clinical competence.
    • In-depth Clinical knowledge of wound care and management
    • Ability to liaise effectively with senior medical and nursing staff, managers and all grades of health care workers.
    • To be able to make informed clinical choices and formulate a plan of care delivery.
    Desirable
    • Recognised course in wound care/Tissue Viability.
    • Working as a Tissue Viability Link nurse (WREN)
