    Job Description

    The successful candidate will be a member of SCOR's longevity team supporting all aspects of understanding, pricing and managing longevity reinsurance risks, enhancing SCOR's ability to write profitable new business.

    You will take a leading role in research and ongoing development of pricing bases for longevity pricing and valuation for pension schemes, standard individual annuities and medically underwritten annuities. The team has global responsibility for longevity business so the role-holder will have the opportunity to work on business originating from outside the UK.

    You will also support pricing of longevity tenders which will include experience analysis, proposal of basis and rate production with supporting documentation. Assist in the development of other team members, especially junior colleagues.

    It is expected that you will establish strong working relationships with SCOR colleagues both within and outside the Longevity Team, clients and industry contacts

    Responsibilities

    Research
    • Lead projects to deliver pricing bases and tools which enable SCOR to write profitable new business and develop its product offering. Delegate work to members of the Longevity Team outside the Research team to share knowledge and enable the optimal allocation of effort.
    • Contribute ideas for innovation of bases and help plan the research activities of the Longevity Team
    • Identify suitable data sources and lead the delivery of analysis of internal and external data, obtaining maximum value from available information
    • Keep abreast of major developments in the Longevity research field and the UK Longevity market
    • Ensure pricing bases conform with SCOR Global Life pricing guidelines and that key pricing issues/risks are highlighted early
    Quotes Production
    • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the pricing bases support the efficient and accurate delivery of quotes
    • For non-standard quotes, support the production of accurate rates and documentation within specified time frames
    Relationships
    • Develop strong relationships with external experts in Longevity research. Represent SCOR at conferences, industry events and on working parties, promoting a positive image of SCOR
    • Develop a strong network of relationships with SCOR colleagues outside the Longevity Team.
    • Support team development. Develop the expertise and wider skills of junior colleagues and educate internal non-specialists.
    • Promote the Longevity Team's technical expertise, internally and externally
    Qualifications

    Experience

    Essential:
    • Expertise developed through experience of setting longevity, mortality or morbidity assumptions in a commercial environment.
    • Experience of managing the production of technical actuarial work
    • Actuarial/quantitative modelling experience
    Desirable:
    • Project management experience
    • Recent UK annuity market experience
    • Experience of manipulating and analysing large, complex datasets
    • Experience analysis, pricing or valuation of annuities
    • Understanding of UK pension schemes

      Required Education
    • Actuarial Qualifications (or directly relevant experience)
    • Educated to degree level with excellent academic track record
