- A junior qualified lawyer with developing specialism and confidence in particular area(s) of law
- Operates under the supervision of a senior lawyer in the legal team, requiring some assistance to scope and plan work and tasks.
- Delivers accurate work with reasonable autonomy, only requiring direct input and supervision on higher risk/ impact issues (as identified by the associate and supervisor). Able to determine priorities within own area of work, with some insight into priorities across wider team. Plans ahead and balances workload.
- Takes responsibility for building relationships with stakeholders and becoming the first port of call on some legal issues arising across the business
- Provide written legal advice to stakeholders on medium complexity issues, with supervision from senior lawyers in the team where work/ advice is higher risk. Proactively identifies issues and opportunities and progresses appropriately.
- Autonomously attend, coordinate (where necessary) and contribute to meetings with stakeholders across business. Will attend and support preparation for meetings with senior stakeholders, but mostly alongside a more senior lawyer
- Collaborate with others to coordinate complex pieces of work or projects on behalf of legal or the business (where required)
- Undertake horizon scanning and contributes to legal roadmap across lines of business they support, contributing to the team's activities (i.e. Roadmap entries, where applicable)
- Has confidence and ability to engage with third parties (such as trade bodies and suppliers) autonomously on COEP behalf, if relevant
- Has a strong understanding of COEP's business strategy and approach to risk management
- Active contributor to sub-team and legal team in terms of driving engagement activities, leading on team meeting agenda items and running training
- Sometimes identifies areas of improvement in own sphere of work, may require support to implement these
- Lead the support to compliance on a small number of compliance related activities
- When asked, take responsibility for delivering some ancillary tasks impacting wider legal team
