Job description:


The MCA's Programme Delivery Directorate is responsible for delivery of all the major projects and programmes which are of high value and complexity.

The Directorate is also responsible for ensuring that all projects and programmes deliver the intended outcomes and provide value for money.


This role is fundamental in the identifying methods and production of robust engagement plans and managing engagement with a complex network of stakeholders, identifying the interests and influence of each, and tailoring the approach to them as a prime objective.


The postholder will work for the Strategic Relationship and Business Case Manager and is responsible for environmental scanning with the aim of identifying key communications opportunities, using their knowledge of specialist software to design attractive and innovative content and co-ordinate delivery of impactful communication strategies.


The postholder will also focus on maximising engagement with our key internal and external stakeholders including industry and government, and use their skills to ensure all programmes and projects are marketed successfully and great relationships built and maintained.

You will have the opportunity to show case your excellent communication and people skills to identify opportunities and create convincing, compelling communications to support delivery of the MCA's programmes of investment.

In addition you will be helping to deliver some of the most high value and impactful projects/ programmes that the agency delivers.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ.

MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work.

Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.


Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engagement and stakeholder management (internal and external) for all MCA Programme Delivery Directorate work, encompassing all major programmes and projects from initiation to the point of delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of all MCA's commercial communications. Planning and delivery of marketing and communications opportunities for MCA's major commercial projects and programmes. Identify and play an active part in maximising opportunities for engaging collaboratively with commercial experts and policy leads, using your experience and knowledge to ensure messaging is targeted to MCA's stakeholders, including delivery of internal comms and maintaining a relationships with colleagues in HM Coastguard.
  • Manage and develop innovative and accessible marketing material for all MCA major projects and programmes utilising software such as Photoshop and InDesign to promote and inform stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Maintain and develop key relationships with MCA Press and Communications team, the Department For Transport and other agencies, ensuring consistent engagement and communications with all priority stakeholders including industry, media and the general public.
  • Postholder is responsible for the daytoday management and use of a Programme Delivery Directorate marketing budget, using professional judgment to ensure it spend is justified and appropriate.
