    Detailed Description

    We are seeking candidates with a record that will demonstrate that they have the drive and ambition to become a leading international researcher in an area complementary to our existing strengths.

    You will have knowledge and experience in the area of radio electronic designs for sensing and wireless systems. You will have a strong academic or industrial track record and a strong drive to become a leader. Ideally, you will possess a successful track record of obtaining external funding for R&D projects, as well as previous teaching and learning experience to contribute positively to our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Relevant industrial experience would be highly desirable. A first degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics or other cognate discipline is essential, along with evidence of vision, drive and determination to succeed. A confident and outgoing attitude is necessary, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    The successful applicant will be required to contribute to relevant teaching within the disciplines of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (EECE) and will be a member of the EECE Teaching Group. This teaching will be related to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and at all academic levels in the areas of analogue and high frequency electronics and project supervision. Typical key teaching topics may include but are not limited to analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems , electromagnetism, sensors, signals and systems. The successful applicant will also contribute to international the joint educational partnerships of EECE.

    You will also be given the opportunity to join the Research Institute of Sensors Signals and Systems (ISSS) and work in tandem with colleagues associated with one or more of the research areas of ISSS. There will be a opportunities to initiate and develop your research interests individually or in collaboration with other researchers of ISSS. There will also be opportunities for delivering impact through enterprise by engaging with external industrial companies and/or knowledge translation, expanding and enhancing the intensity and reputation of our School's research.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging EECE curriculum for students, ensuring alignment with academic standards and educational objectives.
  • Utilise a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote student engagement and understanding.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, exams, projects, and other forms of evaluation, providing constructive feedback and support for individual growth.
  • Attend and contribute to Course Boards and Assessment Boards as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the administration associated with the course delivery.
  • Participate in external engagement activities for the Global College.
  • Stay informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in Mathematics and Physics education, participating in professional development activities and conferences as appropriate.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a passion for learning.
  • Carrying out general academic administration including student recruitment and admissions, participation on committees and exam boards, taking responsibility for key discipline-specific administration tasks and mentoring students;
  • undertaking continuous professional development (CPD) and participating in staff development activities.

    Education, Qualification and Experience

    Essential

  • First degree in electronic engineering or similar subjects.
  • Experience with delivering teaching in a University environment.
  • Understanding the industry's needs and expectations for EECE graduates.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global teaching team.
  • Background knowledge of the University, the School, EECE and ISSS.
  • Ability to set and monitor quality standards.
