    Regional Operations Director (South)- Water Sector/MEICA

    Location: UK, Southern region- Thames Water service region and requires travel to various projects and clients across the Southeast.

    We're working with a leading contractor who is currently working on a variety of MEICA Water projects in the Southern region of the UK with specific responsibility for management and successful delivery of a portfolio of projects to the value of £50 million.

    As the Regional Operations Director for UK Operations in the South, with a focus on the municipal business, your role encompasses several key responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for all turnover/sales for the UK client base within the Southern region of the UK, focusing on health and safety performance, financial KPIs and meeting client objectives. The Regional Operations Director will work closely with other Operations Directors alongside the senior management functions such as, HSQE and Sustainability, HR, Sales and Finance. You will manage a team of senior staff which includes operations managers, project managers, design engineers, project engineers, commercial team and site management and supervision.

    As the Regional Operations Manager, you will ensure the company objectives are met so that they are in line with the annual budget turnover figures and have P&L responsibility for achieving the margin/EBIDTA targets for your region.

    Strategic Roles and Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the Director of Operations UK, providing monthly performance reports regarding the status of the Contracts, Frameworks and functions under their authority. Ensuring the effective control and monitoring of progress and risk.
    • Support the compilation of the annual budget, reporting against the annual budget turnover and sales targets and tracking against EBITDA targets.
    • Ability to make strategic decisions in line with the Business Plan Objectives and giving the necessary guidance and leadership for your teams to implement these decisions.
    • Continually review key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks.
    • Drive the growth plans for contracts and frameworks to maximise revenue opportunities and streams.
    • Ensure all activities meet and integrate with the organisational, legal and statutory requirements for HSQE and duty of care.
    • Provide necessary reports to Director of Operations UK, contributing to the development of business plan objectives, turnover and profit forecast.
    • Maintain close communication with the Commercial Director to effectively handle commercial and contractual matters, offering opinion as needed into tenders and marketing efforts.
    • Empower and encourage individuals to achieve excellence in all aspects of the business function.

    Client Strategy

    • Oversee the management of client and stakeholder expectations.
    • Foster building strong working relationships with clients.
    • As a client-centric business, ensuring to maintain consistent communication with clients to ensure their expectations and met and surpassed.

    Operations Strategy

    • develop project plans and identify any necessary resource adjustments or restructuring requirements, while ensuring HR is informed of any related issues.
    • Hold accountability for the successful delivery of all projects and frameworks in your region.
    • Drive accountability within project delivery teams by delineating clear roles and responsibilities for direct reports.
    • Lead the recruitment, selection, development and retention of suitable talent for project delivery teams.
    • Supervise contract negotiations with both the commercial team and clients.
    • Oversee and enhance operational activities for our clients.
    • Uphold and communicate company values within the organisation and to the broader industry, ensuring efficient staff allocation to meet turnover needs.
    • Proactively advice the progress of construction activities and conduct regular progress meetings with stakeholders.
    • Foster a culture of innovation across all functions.
    • Assist Contract Managers and Project Managers in devising cost-effective plans and methods for successful project completion.
    • Manage risks to mitigate delays and increased costs.
    • Ensure Project Managers effectively supervise and manage their multidisciplinary teams.
    • Ensure procurement and supply chain engagement align with current and future turnover requirements.

    Senior Leadership Strategy

    • Promote a team culture centred on inclusion, support and drive, guiding decision-making that prioritises customer satisfaction and profitability in alignment with our client's values and ethics.
    • Provide leadership, management and motivate high performance throughout the business unit.
    • Regular 1-2-1 updates with Director of Operations UK.
    • UK lead of innovation.
    • Design and manage a robust set of projects and people analytics to ensure operational practices are industry leading.
    • Transform a conventional delivery team into an agile, high-performing project delivery team.
    • Prepare Monthly Performance Reports for the UK Business (dates to be confirmed).
    • Update Budget Projections for all projects as and when materially changed.
    • Conduct quarterly Performance review reports.
