Purpose of the role:


The purpose of the Ganger is to assist the Operatives to undertake the Highways works in accordance with the OCR instructions and ensure the teams are utilising the PDAs correctly and effectively.

This role will be based be supporting out NMC-SW account and will be based in the Glasgow area. The working hours are based on 39 hours per week.

About the role:


  • Maintain high technical standards and solutions
  • Attend project briefings as required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and manage and mentor apprentices and operatives and coordinate the work of others as necessary aligned to the instructions of the OCR Manager and Controller
  • Responsible for the security of vehicles/plant and materials under their direct control and to plan work and estimate vehicle/plant and material requirements
  • Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks e.g. drainage, kerbing, fencing, walling, sweeping, signing, patching, traffic management
  • Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance, (e.g. oil and water checks) and cleaning
  • Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, subcontractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers
  • Report any Health and Safety, team or performance concerns to the Supervisor
  • Other duties, as required Supervise and support the operatives directly under their control contributing to overall service delivery to a defined programme of work activityLiaise with the Supervisor and Pre Works Technician as appropriate to meet the KPIs and 'right first time' philosophy

  • HGV Class 2 is essential
  • Traffic Management experience is essential
