**Job Description

  • Claims Executive**Under supervision, investigates and maintains claims. Works within authority on claims of varied technical complexity. Determines liability and quantum, secures information and settles claims utilising claims policies and guidelines relevant to the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recognises issues with policy coverages and escalates issues as needed.
  • Sets activities, reserves and authorises payment within scope of authority, settling claims in most cost effective and timely manner. Ensures prompt issuance of disbursements while effectively managing loss costs and claim expenses.
  • Participates in performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with brokers, insureds, claimants, witnesses and experts.
  • Identify and escalate serious claim developments to management efficiently and effectively.
  • Recognises need for negotiation, participates in planning strategy and negotiates within scope of authority.
  • Responsible for input of data that accurately reflects claim circumstances and other information important to our business outcomes.
  • Keeps current on relevant issues, regulations and trends.
  • Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of claims and insurance industry theory and practices is desirable
  • Some knowledge of Professional Healthcare claims and Medical and Dental defense is desirable
  • Developing technical expertise, product specific knowledge and negotiation skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the companies internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to work independently. Good time management skills.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other businessrelated software; experience with ECF and Proclaim would be an advantage.
  • Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position

  • 8 hour shift
