We are the Government's advisor for the natural environment, playing a vital role in delivering the Government's 25 Year Environment Plan, an ambitious vision which brings new opportunities to protect and enhance and to achieve real outcomes for the environment.
The Role
The Thames Solent Area Team is looking for a motivated individual to work with our National Nature Reserves Managers with an aim to provide comprehensive business support for the effective running of our NNRs and their bases.
The role will be based in the Business Delivery Team within the Thames Solent Area Team and will involve regular travel to our NNRs.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for nature, as well as a range of knowledge, skills and experience covering contracts management, H&S protocol, training coordination, procurement and requisitions, and high-quality administration and records keeping.
You need to be a team player, able to work with a range of staff in local and national teams and can operate as an individual.
Key Tasks:
As the NNRs Business Coordinator working in Thames Solent your role would be varied and include:
- Sharing best practice across the NNRs in the areas of H&S checks, first aid inventories, machinery maintenance and servicing, and vehicle safety checks.
- Coordination training logs, staff licenses to operate, and additional staff qualifications.
- Providing onsite facilities support at the NNR bases, including IT hardware, office equipment, and troubleshooting other issues arising.
- Managing contracts with maintenance and servicing contractors, and waste and recycling services.
- Providing resilience support to the wider Business Delivery Team.
- Delivering a high standard of administration and customer service. Procurement of goods and services as required, sourcing appropriate suppliers, and raising requisitions in line with organisational procedures.
- A passion for nature and desire to work to enable nature's recovery.
- A good understanding of standard IT, and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Understanding and experience of working to customer service standards.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work on own initiative and good problemsolving skills and resourceful when triaging queries.
- A broad understanding of Natural England's objectives.
Desirable:
- Experience of using the Single Operating Platform (SOP)
- Experience of using SharePoint Online
All Natural England colleagues are expected to work from their affiliated office for a minimum of one working day each week.
