    Job summary

    This is a new role in our Workforce Information Team. You'll be joining a proactive and innovative team, and you will work with us to provide professional workforce information support and guidance to our corporate and clinical teams.

    This is a varied role with opportunity for development and stretch. You will focus on workforce information support for our EDI and social partnership agenda, taking the lead on our external reporting requirements to NHSE/CQC.

    You will have significant experience in a workforce informational role, within the NHS. We are looking for someone to join the team with previous back end experience and knowledge of ESR. We are looking for significant experience of designing reports and extracting information from ESR and the ability to work independently and autonomously when required. We are also looking for advanced knowledge of Excel, including use of pivot tables and vLookup functions.

    Main duties of the job

    Supporting the Associate Director of Workforce on data to develop our workforce plans, will be a key part of the role. You will work alongside our internal and ICS planning colleagues in support of the operational planning cycle. Previous experience of providing workforce information support for workforce planning and completion of national templates would be preferred.

    We would love to hear from you if you have skills in automation of reporting or in developing workforce planning data and analytics. You'll have the opportunity to supporting local, regional, and national planning meetings, as and when necessary. You'll also support our regional/ ICS Digital Transformation agenda. You'll work collaboratively with colleagues across the region exploring opportunities for collaborative procurement of systems, efficiency and automation of aspects of our internal workforce reporting.

    We'd love you take a key role in the development of our Trust ESR optimisation plans and work with colleagues Trust wide on developing a suite of easily accessible workforce data reports. Ideally, you will have experience of development and automation.

    You'll also line manage our Workforce Analyst and have responsibility for working with our finance team on alignment of hierarchy build and cost centre management. So an understanding of NHS national workforce categorisations and coding is essential.

    Job responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Workforce Information and Planning in the development and implementation of a Workforce Information Data Strategy for the Trust.
  • Provide analysis and benchmarking service for Workforce Information and workforce planning.
  • Support the Head of Workforce Information and Planning to co-ordinate the Trusts annual workforce planning processes.
  • Oversee the integration of ESR into the Workforce Information Data Strategy, ensuring a single vision of Workforce data
  • Provide information and respond to data requests from outside bodies including CQC and NHSE
  • Provide leadership and management to the Workforce Analyst, ensuring an efficient, effective, and client-driven service
  • Undertake projects as directed by the Head of Workforce Information and Planning

    Qualifications and Education

    Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • Desirable

  • Workforce Planning related qualification.
  • Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

  • Significant experience in a workforce informational role, ideally within the NHS
  • Advanced knowledge of workforce systems, including ESR
  • Previous experience of designing reports and extracting information from Oracle based systems
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including use of pivot tables and vLookup functions
  • Experience of collating and analysing statistical information and producing written reports and other materials for non-statistical professionals to aid performance management, business decisions and resources.
  • Experience of collaborating with stakeholders to meet current and future needs within the organisational priorities and resources
  • Desirable

  • Understanding of NHS national workforce categorisations and coding
  • Experience of using Oracle reporting tools such as ESR BI and reporting tools such as Power BI.
  • Workforce planning experience, using a range of workforce planning approaches and tools.
