    Description

    We are a busy, friendly and highly inclusive team and are now looking for an extra member to join our Technical Writing Team. The successful candidate will receive ongoing support and training from an experienced team of Directors, Technical Managers and Report Writers. We would look to this person being primarily working from home, with at least 1 day per week based at our HQ in Derby.

    About the Role:

    A key part of our business is the production of Technical Reports, that outline and describe the Research & Development activity undertaken by a business, answering the questions and guidelines set out by HMRC to enable them to process claims efficiently and quickly. We produce some of the best technical reports within our industry.

    As one of our Technical Report Writers your daily duties will include:

    • Interpreting information provided by clients and, if necessary, conducting independent research into the business, sector and relevant technology
    • Information from clients is typically acquired through in-person and remote meetings, so being able to listen to recordings and interpret technical information is key. Other information, such a notes, drawings and photos, are also provided to aid with the report
    • Collating that information into a concise and informative technical document aimed at HMRC
    • Liaising with the Technical Managers with queries and to receive feedback and get their approval for the document

    About You:

    • Self-motivated and able to manage your own time effectively in a deadline-orientated environment
    • Enjoys writing to a high-standard and researching material from industries including engineering, manufacturing, IT, biological sciences, chemical sciences, agricultural sciences, and more
    • Attention to detail
    • IT literate – some experience using basic Microsoft package essential, in particular Word
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Ability to think outside the box and creatively
    • Able to take and action feedback from colleagues
    • Experience of writing in a professional environment would be preferred (but is not essential)
