We are once again collaborating with one of our long term clients, to assist them in adding an experienced Head of Operations to their core management team.
You will be joining one of the UK's leading Sawmill plants based in East Lothian on a 22 hectare, state of the art technology and sustainability, with sites across the UK and Ireland.
Employing over 900 people. They are a leading timber processor with a strong growth story. Over the past five years it invested over €70 million across the Group through capital investment projects.The group prepares for continued growth and investment in the UK and Ireland and are now expanding their management team to appoint a Head of Operations for Scotland.
Key responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Joint MD, you will lead the Scottish operations and be responsible for the delivery of business targets across operations.
- Leadership and management of business operations across their 2 sites and contribute to the senior leadership team.
- Develop and executing the strategic plan to grow business operations to assist the group in hitting or exceeding agreed targets.
- Regular travel to the 2 Scotland sites as well as occasional travel across other sites in Ireland.
- Driving efficiencies and standardisation of approaches, practices and reporting.
- Working with HR and site managers to ensure staff are trained and upskilled.
- Ensuring that projects are managed and delivered on time and to budget.
- Develop and maintain the capital investment strategy plan for the business
- Standardising business practices and reports across sites.
- Driving the improvement of the manufacturing and lean practices
- Driving Strong personal credibility with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Advanced interpersonal, negotiation, communication and influencing skills
- Proven ability to lead and develop people.
- Strong sense of urgency. Comfortable in an environment that is dynamic and changeable

- Minimum 5 years' experience in leading Operations teams in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in heavy industry operations and manufacturing.
- Capacity to reduce complexity and increase efficiency in processes to maximise outcome/return.
- Above all, the ability to Create a climate in which people can do their best.
