As the Personal Assistant for the Surgery & Critical Care Division which covers services working at the West Sussex sites of Southlands, Worthing and St Richard's hospitals, you will be key in supporting the Senior Leadership team, by providing comprehensive PA and secretarial support as well as general administrative duties.

You will need to have excellent administrative and communication skills in relation to diary management; minute taking and action tracking; use of IT software to produce reports, presentations and databases and undertaking project work as required.

You will also be helping to support the five directorates that make up the Division, namely:

  • Theatres, Anaesthetics, Critical Care & Pre Op (incorporating Sterile Services Department)
  • General Surgery
  • MSK
  • Ophthalmology
  • Specialist Surgery


The Personal Assistant role is very varied and will provide an exciting opportunity for someone to increase their knowledge of wider Trust activities in areas such as SDR, RTT and Patient First.

To provide high quality administrative and secretarial support to the designated Senior Management Team.

you will demonstrate highly developed administrative and communication skills whilst undertaking a wide range of activities to ensure focus on key priorities including diary management, information management, use of IT software to develop reports and presentations, minute taking, action tracking and delivering project work as required.

You will provide a professional, efficient and confidential service to ensure the Division runs as smoothly as possible.

  • Act as the first point of contact between the Division and the Trust and other internal and external agencies at both local and national level.
  • Deal with enquiries from patients, members of the public, press and members of staff. Assess calls and enquiries for urgency and priority and forward calls, where appropriate.
  • Receive visitors and deal with their requests, as appropriate.
  • Communicate across the Trust with all levels of staff within all professional groups: medical, nursing, clinical, support staff and other members of the multidisciplinary teams.
