    Commodities Technology Project Manager

    Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) is seeking a Commodities Technology Project Manager to work in our PMO team within Enterprise Services Technology. The individual will lead large scale technology projects to support our commodity business. The commodity business unit is one of the newest and fastest growing profit centers at BAM, rapidly onboarding new markets and staff around the globe to launch physical trading capabilities.

    As BAM continues to grow, so has the volume of high-priority initiatives aligned to Technology teams. BAM has established a formal project management structure to guarantee success of the extensive portfolio of initiatives within the Technology organization. This team will interact with technical and non-technical staff and require an understanding of IT infrastructure and development workloads. Candidates must have a strong ability to translate business requirements to technical deliverables. Effective communication, planning and reporting skills, and tactful negotiation are essential to success. The candidate will embody a mindset of continuous learning and process improvement.

    The Project Manager will be instrumental in the implementation of Endur as well as driving other key Commodities technology initiatives. The individual will work collaboratively with Technology, Finance, Operations, Investment teams, Risk and other teams and leaders across the firm and be responsible for:

    ·Managing development projects leveraging Agile methodologies

    ·Ensure alignment of business goals in the implementation of Endur for front, middle, and back office

    ·Coordinate and collaborate across Technology and other areas of the firm where needed to deliver bodies of work on time and on budget

    ·Document and implement best practices and procedures for sound project management within Technology

    ·Maintain budget tracking and technology spend reporting

    ·Provide meaningful and actionable updates to senior leadership

    ·Develop solutions for automating specific activities around repetitive tasks

    ·Translate business requirements to technical deliverables

    ·Effectively partner and communicate with across numerous departments and stakeholders

    Qualifications and Requirements

    ·Minimum 7 years of experience in technology project management within the Commodities space

    ·Good understanding of Commodities including physical Gas and Power (both physical and financial)

    ·Experience leading the implementation of Endur for front, middle, and back office for physical Gas and Power

    ·Strong project management skills within the Information Technology space

    ·Proven methods for validating and quantifying project viability based on resource capacity

    ·High-level knowledge of technology infrastructure and critical technologies such as Cloud, virtualization, automation, support, operations, data and technologies

    ·Strong project management planning, reporting, and dashboarding

    ·Strong business analysis and business intelligence experience

    ·Excellent PowerPoint/Project skills and expertise

    ·Strong time management and negotiation experience

    ·A very strong and effective communicator and collaborator with C-level presentation capabilities

    ·Able to multi-task and excel in a high pressure, fast-paced trading environment

    ·Able to think on your own to develop quick and sound solutions to complex problems

    With respect to NY- and CA-based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between $180000 and $225000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
