We have an excellent opportunity available for a Safeguarding Practitioner to join our Adult Safeguarding Team on a full-time, permanent basis.


As the Safeguarding Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing responsive and proactive safeguarding work to support the consistent achievement of good outcomes of people supported under an Adult Safeguarding framework within the borough.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Responding to Adult Safeguarding concerns
  • Undertaking Safeguarding enquiries under Sec 42 Care Act
  • Contributing to quality assurance work in a safeguarding context with Provider organisations
  • Participating in organisational abuse enquiries
  • Working with the partnership around the preventative agenda including undertaking specific project work in line with local and West of Berkshire strategy
  • The role doesn't necessarily require an Occupational Therapy or Social Work qualification (although desirable) but you MUST have significant experience and knowledge in safeguarding adults, the Care Act 2014 and the legal framework and are able to demonstrate this
  • Be able to drive crossCouncil working for all staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organisation, to meet needs, opportunities and address challenges as they arise
  • To be part of a customerfacing, proactive and responsive organisation, delivering a robust safeguarding service to our residents. This requires you to be flexible, adaptable and creative in order to meet the needs of our residents, and to lead active engagement with customers and communities
Wokingham is an attractive market town in Berkshire, with excellent road and rail links and is easily accessible from London and Reading
