    The Life, Accident & Health portfolio is written across multiple underwriting platforms (including the US, UK and Switzerland) offering a range of products globally.

    MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

    Reporting to the Chief Portfolio Actuary, Global Accident & Health the primary responsibility of the Senior Actuarial Analyst (Accident & Health) is to provide pricing and actuarial support to underwriters . The role will include building and developing pricing models, conducting individual contract pricing and supporting the relationship between the underwriter and client.

    Other responsibilities include monitoring of underwriting performance, analysing the portfolio, monitoring exposures and assisting in the formulation of the business plan.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Work with the Pricing Function to implement the Pricing Policy across the Accident & Health portfolio
    • H elp identify and develop models to rate business, taking into account profitability and cost of capital targets
    • Conduct case pricing of large contracts as required given materiality thresholds or as referred by the Underwriting Function
    • Facilitate the development and implementation of technical rating solutions that satisfy the agreed financial objectives :
      • Ensuring an effective pricing control cycle (which includes the continual performance analysis, development of pricing proposals through to impact analysis following implementation)
      • Ensure the completion of the Actuarial Referral Templates and validate output from pricing through the use of feedback loops
    • Take part in client discussions in order to assist in developing solutions that better both the client and Sirius Point ' s positions either financially or risk related
    • Assist in the management of the portfolio by performing appropriate analysis, such as:
      • monitoring of differences between technical price and actual price
      • monitoring of performance against business plan including adequacy of rate change
      • monitoring of emerging reserving trends and impact on the portfolio
      • monitoring of key exposures
    • Assist with th e business plan ning and internal capital modelling processes in respect of the Accident & Health portfolio
    • To work with the underwriting and pricing team to establish a pricing culture of continual improvement, incorporating the consideration/development of market leading pricing techniques and insights and their effective implementation as required. This would include, for example, engagement with providers of third party data and software
    • Support ad-hoc requests for analysis, new products development and other special projects for Senior Management .

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the right blend of technical knowledge, on-the-job experience, and communication skills that are required to thrive in this position.

    • High level in mathematics / statistics knowledge including a n understanding of using actuarial pricing tools and techniques
    • Highly computer literate with strong IT skills particularly with Microsoft Office & Excel as well as coding background e.g. R, SQL, Python etc.
    • K nowledge of general insurance and reinsurance and of key industry issues / challenges
    • Analytically minded and good data analysis skills
    • Strong attention to detail and good commercial awareness
    • Good communications skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
    • Ability to communicate complex issues and their implications both oral and written
    • Ability to plan effectively, organi s e and prioriti se workload
    • Ability to work as a team – often across functions and locations
