  • Main duties of the job

    To work as an autonomouspractitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practicepopulation, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complyingwith the GMScontract.

    Furthermore,the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice,contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example,maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with themultidisciplinary team.

    Newton Place Surgery is a vibrant purpose-built surgery with a great family feel, set in the beautiful market village of Faversham in the countryside of Kent. The practice has good transportation links, being less than 1 mile from Faversham train station and not far from the M2 turn-off. Faversham also boasts some local outstanding Ofsted-rated and private schools, making it an ideal place to relocate if you have a young family.

    Newton Place Surgery is one of seven practices that form Mid Kent PCN. The PCN has a population of almost 100k, making it one of the largest PCNs in East Kent.

    The practice has the support of a large clinical team, which includes allied health professionals such as Mental Health Practitioner, First Contact Practitioners, ANPs, Paramedic Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists and GP Assistants. We have a very experienced administration team who actively manage workflow optimisation, signposting, and pathology delegation, helping to reduce some of the administrative burdens.

    We offer a variety of additional on-site services such as ultrasound, audiology, physiotherapy, womens health, minor surgery, ECGs, and spirometry and we are also a covid vaccination site. The practice is actively involved in research and employs a small team to support this. We are also a training practice that hosts ST2, ST3, medical students, PAs, paramedics, and student nurses.

    Job responsibilities

    The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:

  • Thedelivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • Theprovision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions
  • Processingof administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptionrequests and other associated administrative tasks
  • Ona rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance
  • Workcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contributeto the successful implementation of continuous improvement and qualityinitiatives within the practice
  • Acceptdelegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contributeeffective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinicalgovernance and training
  • Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepareand complete the revalidation process
  • Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team
  • Supportthe training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

  • Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, thesalaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audits asrequested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives toenhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significantand near-miss events applying a structured approach , root cause analysis(RCA)

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Experience

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
