**The Property and Procurement function is led by Kimberley Warren and reports directly into the Chief Digital and Innovation Officer. It is an established function covering both property services and within procurement all the categories of third partyspend and third-party risk management across the Bank.


You'll report directly to the Head of IT (or Non-IT) Sourcing and will be responsible for providing a holistic view of relationships for key strategic suppliers creating strategic roadmaps, supporting commercial negotiations to maximise value creation andidentifying opportunities for innovation.


The role holder will be responsible for collaborating across the Bank, with a specific focus on the Bank's top strategic suppliers, establishing strong links with key business stakeholders and developing relationships with new and existing partners.


This role in a nutshell:


  • You'll be directly responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing a strategic roadmap for their top 10 strategic supplier. You will achieve sign off on the strategy plans with stakeholders.
  • Effective stakeholder management is critical establishing themselves as the strategy lead for the key supplier.
  • You will clearly articulate the approach and value of the strategic roadmap for the supplier and how this facilitates stakeholders achieving their goals and objectives.
  • Historical spend and future spend metrics will be assessed to help establish the strategic plan to drive greater value from our strategic relationships.
  • You will plan their workload and identify solutions to managing changing stakeholder and Procurement function priorities proactively engaging with the Head of IT (or Non-IT) Sourcing should challenges arise.
  • Look outwards to the market for their strategic suppliers providing insights and using all available sources of intelligence to assess trends and directions, supplier strengths and weaknesses and future direction for the Bank's requirements.
  • Benchmark our peer companies and establish a network of contacts within the industry to keep appraised of best practices
  • Provide leadership and guidance across the wider Procurement function on sourcing approaches and execution
  • Represent Procurement, both internally and externally at relevant Business Review Meetings and Governance Meetings
  • Contribute as a collaborative Team member to the strategic direction of Procurement in alignment with stakeholders across VM.
  • Challenge current ways of working to develop new competencies and approaches.
  • Support and promote the Procurement Policy Standard and policy compliance and adherence to Supplier Governance Framework.
  • Create strong and effective relationships with suppliers.

To be successful you'll need to bring:

  • Supplier relationship management expertise with experience in driving key strategic relationships.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
  • The appetite to positively disrupt and challenge the status quo bringing an energy and a new way of doing things to drive the Procurement team and VM forward.
  • Resilience and confidence when operating in an environment where change is the norm and cope with multiple priorities
  • External market knowledge and commercial best practice and be able to coach and develop others.
  • The skills to collaborate and network across the Bank establishing strong links with key business areas and developing relationships with new and existing partners
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior colleagues / Stakeholders and to network across the bank
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to negotiate and influence in a collaborative manner.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the longerterm impacts of plans and the potential for improvement
  • Ability to work in a team, adaptable and responsive to the team and wider bank colleagues
  • Ability to foster growth and development in direct and indirect reports, and use best practice techniques for coaching

We'd love you to have:


  • Experience and knowledge of the Financial Services industry
  • Knowledge of VM and its people, to be able to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Practical understanding of the regulatory environment within which VM operates
  • Understanding of industry analysis, strategic analysis, competitor analysis, performance analysis, risk analysis
  • Understanding of the importance of regulation, governance and risk management in strategic initiatives
  • In depth understanding of risk as it applies to VM
