About You
We are looking for a qualified vet who is up for a challenge and can adapt to the wide variety of cases seen at PDSA. Confidence in communicating with a wide range of colleagues and clients is essential, as is a willingness to share your skills, learn new ones and lead by example.
Your passion will drive you to champion the charity, promote client contributions and always keep an eye on resources suggesting efficiencies wherever possible.

About the Hospital
Gateshead hospital is our busy hub 24/7 hospital in the North East. This means we deal with a range of complex and interesting cases, with the great support of our experienced, committed and talented team. We need a vet who is a great team player with a good sense of humour.
We have a stable vet team at Gateshead, most of our team members have been with us for 10 years plus. We are sad to say goodbye to our colleague who is off down-under, we are happy to see that her great progression with us has allowed her to take on this new adventure.
Here at PDSA Gateshead, you will have access to a team with a wealth of knowledge and experience and we love to discuss cases and treatment plans. Our focus is on developing our team members through mentoring in a wide range of procedures, our monthly interactive clinical meetings, we enjoy work and want you to. We support EMS students, and some have stayed with us to join our vet team.
We have separate dog and cat kennelling facilities, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment.
We have a flexible approach to our weekend working, you are never on a solo shift, with Vets Now covering our 6pm to 9am OOH work. After any weekends worked you get some time back and enhanced pay.
We all feel lucky to call the North East our home – we are surrounded by hills, the stunning Northumberland coastline and beaches, castles (including Alnwick castle), Hadrian's Wall and not far from the Lake District too. Newcastle is a vibrant cultured city too, with excellent transport links.
