We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Customs Clerk to join our team in North Humberside.

As a Junior Customs Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting with customs clearance procedures and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of customs documentation, including import and export declarations, customs invoices, and other related documents.
  • Collaborate with senior customs clerks and officers to ensure accurate and timely submission of customs clearance documentation.
  • Perform data entry and verification tasks to ensure the accuracy of information in customs systems and databases.
  • Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to resolve any customsrelated queries or issues.
  • Stay updated with the latest customs regulations, procedures, and requirements to ensure compliance and provide guidance to colleagues and clients when necessary.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking shipments to ensure they comply with customs regulations and are delivered on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to streamline customs clearance processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain organized records of customs documentation, ensuring compliance with data protection and recordkeeping regulations.
  • Provide administrative support to the customs department, including filing, scanning, and archiving of documents.

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant certifications or training in customs procedures will be advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a similar role or knowledge of customs processes will be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and experience working with customs software or databases.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams, clients, and customs authorities.
  • A proactive and teamoriented approach, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Knowledge of international trade and customs regulations would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements within the customs environment.
