GL Assessment is currently recruiting for Content Editor

GL Assessment provides market-leading admissions tests. These admissions tests require the continuous development of high-quality items to keep them fit for purpose and innovative.

The role of the Content Editor is to take an active role in the development and trialling of new items.

In addition to new content, the Content Editor will contribute to the construction of live admissions tests by carrying out a range of QA checks including construction checks and end-user checks.

The Content Development Editor will work under own initiative for day-to-day requirements taking overall direction from the Admissions Testing Content and Trialling Manager.


Responsibilities:


  • Analysing where there are gaps in the item bank based on customer requirements
  • Managing freelancers (e.g. item writers, illustrators, software developer, curriculum consultants)
  • Creating and keeping uptodate itemwriting briefs and guidelines for item writers (including curriculum guidance for English and maths)
  • Reviewing of new items against itemwriting briefs, guidelines (and national curriculum where appropriate) to ensure suitability of content and feeding back to item writers
  • Collaborating with item writers to develop brandnew item types
  • Uploading of new items to database, liaising with the software developer if needed
  • Monitoring of item bank for quality and relevance of older items
  • Planning of toppriority new content to trial and construction of trialling booklets
  • Supporting the recruitment of schools for newquestion trials
  • Liaising with schools over the logistics of the trials and sending and explaining results to schools
  • Evaluating item data from the trials using classical item analysis data
  • Undertaking QA checks on live tests, including construction checks, enduser checks and answersheet checks
  • Contributing to ISO9001 and other qualitycontrol documents including nonconformance reports and QA checklists
  • Any other duties as required by Admissions Testing Content and Trialling Manager

Skills required:

  • Thorough and meticulous, with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent timemanagement and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt to change, solve problems and suggest solutions
  • Confident communicator and able to collaborate with the rest of the admissions testing team and other teams in the company
  • Professional attitude and the confidence to lead by example
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High aptitude for both English and maths
  • Ability to work independently and take the initiative to propose solutions to problems, create action plans and oversee change
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with other teams within the company and a range of external suppliers
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • An understanding of reasoning abilities e.g. verbal, nonverbal and spatial reasoning
  • An understanding of psychometric tests
  • An understanding of statistics in relation to item development and item performance
  • An understanding of the maths and English primary national curriculum for England and Wales (KS2)
  • Ideally educated to degree
