In North Lanarkshire we're ambitious. Ambitious for our residents and the people who work here. Ambitious for our services and the people who provide them. Ambitious for our communities and partners.

This ambition is reflected within our Fleet service where we are about to deliver a state-of-the-art new Fleet maintenance depot at our Bellshill facility which will help to deliver an exciting and ambitious vehicle replacement and maintenance programme as we move towards a net zero transport solution.

We are looking for an individual who will match this investment and long-term ambition. This individual will be innovative and a confident leader and will join our senior management team within Community Operations to lead and develop our Fleet service where we strive for excellence and support the achievement of the council's ambitions.

You will have autonomy to lead both the operational and strategic development of the Fleet service ensuring the delivery of high quality, professional services and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

Strong leadership skills are essential to be a success in this role along with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You must be an effective verbal and written communicator and have excellent organisational and IT skills. You must have the ability to analyse data and produce relevant reports and be customer centred in all aspects of service delivery. Given the nature of the service that we provide, it is also essential that you have sound knowledge of health and safety issues and experience of managing Health & Safety.

A Degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline is essential along with substantial work experience within a relevant field. You must also be able to demonstrate experience of managing a team and have both capital and revenue budgetary experience including preparation, monitoring and control arrangements. A management and/or appropriate professional qualification would be advantageous.

The Business Manager (Fleet) will be the Council's nominated certificate of professional competence holder and will have special responsibility for ensuring that the Council operates the fleet in compliance with its Operator's License.

You must have experience of managing a diverse range of services within a complex and large-scale organisation and experience of managing a large-scale Fleet operation. You should also have experience of audit procedures and ensuring performance measures are maintained as well as experience of procurement of vehicles and plant.
