Salary:
£32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

This is an exciting time to be working as a Police Prosecutor for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there's the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as a Police Prosecutor, there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK's largest Police Service.
The purpose of this role is to present cases relating to Traffic Offences reported either by a Police Officers or captured via Cameras or, where a traffic collision has occurred and someone is subsequently taken to court for an offence.
It's a small team comprising of eight other Police Prosecutors who work collaboratively across a number of Magistrates courts, with the aim of bringing offenders to justice.
Key Responsibilities
Your core duties will include
- Attending Magistrates Hearings dealing with Court lists for both morning and afternoon
- Presenting the case to the Court
- Answering questions from the Bench

Essential Criteria
- Ability to work without supervision
- The ability to evaluate information to inform decision making
- Ability to engage with colleagues within the unit and proven verbal and written communication skills
- The role holder will demonstrate good customer service skills when dealing with members of public, internal and external customers, in line with MPS policy and legislative requirements.
- The role holder will demonstrate knowledge and experience in relation to relevant health and safety practices and requirements within their working environment.
Desirable Criteria
- An understanding of Criminal Justice System and its functions
- Knowledge of Road Traffic legislation.
- An understanding of the court process and etiquette.
